- During wireless charging, the cradle and the bottom of the coil on the charging case will heat up. As a result, charging may be slow or even stop, or the cradle indicator may flash or turn off unexpectedly. When the temperature reaches a specific value, a protection mechanism will kick in to prevent overheating, and wireless charging will stop automatically. Once the temperature goes back to normal, charging will resume and the cradle indicator will turn on again. This will not affect your ability to use the device or shorten its battery life.
- Third-party wireless chargers may be incompatible with the earphones. It is recommended that you use a HUAWEI SuperCharge Wireless Charger (Max 27 W) instead.
Perform the following to troubleshoot:
- Remove the protective case on the charging case, and make sure that there are no objects between the charging case and the charging cradle.
- Place the charging case with the HUAWEI logo facing upwards, and with the center of the case's charging coil (opposite to the LED indicator) aligned with the center of the wireless charger's coil. Make small adjustments to the position until the indicator turns on.
- When using a HUAWEI wireless charging cradle, follow the relevant instructions below:
- HUAWEI SuperCharge Wireless Charger (Max 27 W): Align the center of the charging case's coil with the center of the wireless charger's coil (as shown in the following animation). Make small adjustments until the indicator turns on.

- HUAWEI SuperCharge Wireless Charger Stand (Max 50 W):
- FreeBuds 5: Try placing a non-metal object on top of the wireless charging cradle to raise the height by around 1 cm. Then, place the charging case on the wireless charging cradle, with the HUAWEI logo facing outwards and the USB-C port facing downwards. Make slight adjustments until the indicator turns on.
- FreeClip: Try placing a non-metal object on top of the wireless charging cradle to raise the height by around 0.5 cm. Then, place the charging case on the charging cradle, with the HUAWEI logo facing outwards and the USB-C port facing upwards. Make slight adjustments until the indicator turns on.
- HUAWEI Wireless Charger 15 W (Max) Wireless Quick Charge has been on the market for a relatively long time. It may be incompatible with the earphones and cause charging to stop unexpectedly when used.
- Using a HUAWEI phone to wirelessly charge the earphones is not recommended, as it is difficult to align their wireless charging coils, and the earphones are prone to movement. It is better to use a cable to charge the earphones faster. HUAWEI SuperCharge Wireless Charger (Max 27 W) is recommended for wireless charging.
FreeBuds 5 may fail to charge wirelessly if you are using a Mate 60 Pro phone. This issue will be resolved in a later update. Please keep an eye out for system updates and update your phone at your earliest convenience. When charging the earphones, place the charging case on the phone with the HUAWEI logo facing downwards, and rotate the case 180° (with the charging port facing towards the phone camera), as shown in the following animation.
