If your computer is running abnormally or its performance is poor, you can use the restoration function to reset the system.
Before resetting your computer, back up important files to an external storage device.
To use the restoration function to reset your computer system, perform the following steps:
- Connect your computer to a power source, and then use any of the following methods to access the system reset screen.
- Method 1: Press Win+I to access the Settings screen, and go to (or go to Update & Security >Recovery). Click Reset PC next to Reset this PC (or select Get started under Reset this PC).
- Method 2: Press Win+R to open the Run window, enter systemreset, and press Enter.
- Method 3: Power on or restart your computer. During the startup, press and hold or continuously press F8, and go to .
- Select a reset option based on your needs.
Deleted data cannot be recovered. Please exercise caution when performing this operation.
- Click Keep my files (Removes apps and settings, but keep your personal files.): This will delete non-preinstalled apps, restore system settings to default values, and reinstall the system without deleting your personal files.
- Click Remove everything (Removes all of your personal files, apps, and settings.): A message will appear asking you whether to delete system disk files or all disk files. Follow the onscreen instructions to select an option.
- Select a reinstallation mode. (This step is not required when you access the system reset screen in certain Windows 10/11 versions. The actual operation screen should prevail.)
- Cloud download: Download the latest Windows system from the Microsoft official website to resolve any existing system issues. It is recommended that you use this method to download and reinstall the system. However, cloud download takes some time and consumes data traffic.
- Local reinstall: Resetting the system may not resolve existing compatibility and stability issues.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to complete other configurations, and click Reset. Once the reset is complete, restart your computer and enter the system.
