If HUAWEI FreeBuds/FreeLace series/FreeClip/WATCH Buds earphones disconnect or suddenly stop playing any sound during a call or audio playback, perform the following to troubleshoot:
In environments with strong signal interference, such as busy road intersections, subway stations, high-speed railway stations, and airports, the Bluetooth signal may weaken, causing earphones to disconnect or stop playing any sound.
- Ensure that your phone/Tablet is still connected to the earphones via bluetooth. If the connection fails, see Unable to connect HUAWEI Bluetooth earphones to a phone/tablet.
- Check whether the Automatic audio switch is enabled before connecting the earphones to a second device. If not, the first connected device will disconnect.
- Go to , find the target earphones, touch next to the earphones' name, touch General settings, and enable Call audio and Media audio. If you cannot enable them, restart your phone and try again.
- Switch the audio channels on your phone to the earphones. Your phone can connect with two or more Bluetooth audio devices at the same time. If the phone reconnects to a watch or a car, that device will become the default audio output device.
HUAWEI FreeLace Pro 2 earphones will automatically enter Sleep mode and disconnect from the Bluetooth connection if no operation is performed for half an hour when no service is running and noise cancellation or Awareness mode is disabled. To use the earphones again, attach the earphones together and then separate them, or flip the Power switch to power off and on the earphones. The earphones will then reconnect.
- During a call: On the call screen, change the audio output device to the connected earphones, as shown below.
- During media playback:
- On phones running EMUI 10.0 or later: Swipe down from the top of the screen and select the connected earphones as the audio output device in the Device connectivity section.
- On phones running an EMUI version earlier than 10.0 or non-HUAWEI phones: Go to , then disconnect and re-connect the earphones before playing audio again.
- For earphones that support Smart wear detection, when the earphones are not worn securely, playback may pause or resume automatically, or the sound may play through the device speaker instead. In this case, adjust the fit of the earphones in your ears or choose a more appropriate size of ear tips before trying again.
- Currently, only FreeBuds 6i, FreeLace Pro 2, FreeBuds Pro 3, FreeBuds Pro 2 +, WATCH Buds, FreeBuds Pro 2, FreeBuds 5i, FreeBuds Pro, FreeBuds 4i, FreeBuds 3i, FreeLace, FreeLace Pro, FreeLace Lite, and FreeBuds SE earphones come with ear tips. FreeBuds 5 comes with one size of ear tips.
- If the earphones still won't fit securely even when attached with the largest size of ear tips or no matter how you wear them, causing playback to pause or resume automatically or the sound to play through the device speaker, you are advised to disable Smart wear detection. After this feature is disabled, the earphones will remain connected with the phone, and sound will always play from the earphones, without switching between the phone and the earphones.
- If the connection still fails, restart your phone/tablet, reset your earphones, and repeat steps 1 to 4.
If the issue persists, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
- In a strong magnetic environment of 15,000 gausses, the polarity of the magnetic pole may change. Therefore, do not take the earphones when you are close to devices such as MRI instruments, proton therapy instruments, electromagnetic cranes, magnetic separators, motors, and generators.
